This week was a doozy! I am passionate about creating new ways for my students to engage with the material even if it is something I am unfamiliar with. I am a MAC lady who can turn on my laptop, use simple apps, but any of the short cuts or added features is a mystery to me. I am always willing to learn but it isn’t something that comes natural to me so it takes awhile for it to click. In my second year of university I was in a mandatory tech course that while I valued I always struggled in. I was introduced to wordpress and created a different site that was simple and worked to my level of understanding. Then I had multiple other classes that required the use of an online portfolio which led to the additions to that site as well as the creation of this site. However when I began this course I realized I had again outgrown the set up I had created. This is now the new and improved website with a better sorted menu, higher quality images, and worked through a new theme. While this may seem limited I was quite proud of the spiffy new look my reflective posts now have. I also used Mattermost for the first time even reached out to the class for help! Although I quickly realized my own mistake and found the answer to my question. I am hesitant to participate in so many new apps, websites, and formats but am excited about what this exposure can do for my future teaching practice and the new strategies I can introduce to my students. I had a hard week personally with a death in the family so while I intend to explore apps and websites further in future weeks this week may seem slightly dull. I am excited to continue to participate and for the learning I am sure to explore.
